A second colourised photograph of New Zealand troops during World War One to commemorate ANZAC Day. We remember all those who served, including the four-legged heroes. This image from the National Library's photograph collection is of Moses, the donkey, in a playful mood and whose antics brought some cheerful relief to the troops.
I tried to match the coiours, as closely as possible, to images of surviving uniforms from the time. I removed the phantom arms reaching out from behing the righthand wagon as they were distracting, as well as the photographer's initials and cleaned up some dust and scratches. All up, it took around three hours to complete.
